In the capital, Addis Ababa, huge crowds have been welcoming home exiled dissidents. In Addis Ababa the face of Abiy Ahmed is almost ubiquitous, emblazoned on stickers, posters, T-shirts and books. He leads the opposition movement Ginbot 7, which had been labelled a terrorist organisation before Abiy took office in April.
